1. What is your reaction to the text you just read?
My reaction is shocking on how both cultures of Terran and Tlic are. I'm surprised the process of giving birth for both genders is reversed. Males give birth to Tlic eggs because the Tlic species can only survive through terran male hosts. Another thing that surprised me was how the male Gan a terran must incubate and give birth to T'lic eggs from T'Gatoi and my greatest shock is how when the male gives birth it puts him in grave danger and an immense amount of pain giving birth for another species of alien which is the T'lic. My reaction was also a bit saddening and uncomfortable that this species of alien can only survive through humans reproducing their species.
2. What connections did you make with this story that you read? Discuss the elements of the work that you were able to connect?
The connections that I made with this story was how two species are working together for a good cause of survival and to give and bring out new life. However in a way they are not working together because it's pretty much slavery and a connection I made was how the T'lic enslave the terrans for the benefit of them hatching their eggs. A connection to slavery in many ways as well. Two different species work together for the goal of eggs to hatch but that connection is more for the T'lic's benefit not really the terrans. Another element to connect would be the reversal of gender role along with a struggle of survival for two species that must work together and become interdependent in order for survival. Last element would be adaptation to circumstances of both both species.
3. What changes would you make to adapt this story into another media? What media would you use? What changes would you make?
I would for sure adapt this story into the media of a movie. One change I would have is the background story's of both races, deeper plot and understanding of their history, and how these two species met and got to where the story is now. I adapt the characters with their own stories and meaning before, during, and after the events of this story. The media I would use is the storytelling of movies,VR, and games because in those medias visual story telling with a full circle plot engages the viewer in more ways of understanding this story better. The changes I would make with a movie is the plot story and people. The changes in both VR and games the same but they would be interact able with the environments, characters, and perspectives of those characters. One change I may add is if both species work together against a common threat or goal. Overall, the addition of VR and movie experiences would tell the story with a more in depth and deeper understanding.
