The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

What I found by pure observation about a Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was how bizarre, intense, and random the story is. One idea that I wanted to analyze and take from this story was the meaning behind Arthur and the number 42. I found it this book very enjoyable to read through mainly because there is humor and jokes all the way through. In my opinion it's like the author doesn’t want the reader to take it seriously but for the reader to laugh and have fun while reading. This is science fiction is made to laugh at itself while honoring its true rich tradition, but to myself it feels like it is much more than that. Adams' peculiarly dead-on humor also draws deeply from well thought out sociology, philosophy, and of course science. I observed the tone of the book as being humorous and exciting journey but also mysterious with how they can be uncovered. That's one of the main ideas;s I found interesting with this books theme. Another idea I wanted to observe and analyze

The Aquatic Uncle

Within this short story, The Aquatic Uncle , by Italo Calvino as analyzed has its own symbols that parallel that directly compares to modern life in every way which I find to be fascinating. I also found out that "Tadpoles" symbolize not just a beginning to a new life, but forms of immaturity, someone that does not fully understand the world yet. An interesting part of the story could be said of the involvement of the scientific elements behind the "Carboniferous period, abandoned part of aquatic life for terrestrial". This is based on a society moving forward into modern times while abandoning the old way of life. A main idea that I found interesting was the use of symbolism and how it can relate to modernism and society. The "paws' of the story directly relates to a form of creatures that have lived on land long enough to be fully developed and they are a symbol of the highest status within the story.  I also found out through the use of observation that

BloodChild

When I read the short story Bloodchild I was really interested and fascinated by how two species can work together in good and bad way in my opinion. The first species that assists the other one are called the terrans and the other is known as the Tlic however the Tlic co-depends on the terrans. One part of this story that I observed and analyzed was the topic of slavery essentially in this short story. I observed how slavery was needed in this story in order for the Tlic species to survive but in my opinon I feel like the terrans should have recieved something in return for thier services towards the Tlic. I also took away from my own experience with this story that the Tlic need a terran host in order to reproduce their own species and survive. What I found to be quite interesting was how this story depends on the dependecy of another species and the meaning behind that relates to slavery but also survival in my opinion. Furthermore, I found it to be saddening to see that one species

Future in 15 Years and 50 Years

What do you think the future will be like in 15 years? I believe the future will have a more advanced society with technology surrounding and becoming more and more dependent in our lives. VR haptic suits will be created and virtual reality will be a very popular use I believe, augmented reality will take over phones and phones will be far more superior and I believe there will be more wearable technology that more and more people will use. Overall, more wearable tech in 15 years and starting a colony on Mars. What do you think the future will be like in 50 years?  Society will have a different landscape and technology will be everywhere you look in this time period. The first would be how I could see bigger and more expanded cities but way more people than ever before. There would be more advanced ways of traveling. Space travel to other planets would be possible along with a society on Mars for sure. Wearable tech all over someone, clothes may have tech inside them while society h

Assessment

1. What is your reaction to the text you just read? My reaction is shocking on how both cultures of Terran and Tlic are. I'm surprised the process of giving birth for both genders is reversed. Males give birth to Tlic eggs because the Tlic species can only survive through terran male hosts. Another thing that surprised me was how the male Gan a terran must incubate and give birth to T'lic eggs from T'Gatoi and my greatest shock is how when the male gives birth it puts him in grave danger and an immense amount of pain giving birth for another species of alien which is the T'lic. My reaction was also a bit saddening and uncomfortable that this species of alien can only survive through humans reproducing their species. 2. What connections did you make with this story that you read? Discuss the elements of the work that you were able to connect? The connections that I made with this story was how two species are working together for a good cause of survival and to give a

The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers

In this story The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers that I found to be interesting in my opinion was the entire books theme and purpose with how time travel works and how old egyptian magicians face off against the british empire in Egypt. One thing that I observed was how Doyle a character that is trying to protect the present along with the british finds himself in a new body in the past in an attempt to stop magicians and Romany from altering time with the time gate. The main idea that I discovered was how time and space have to stay in equilibrium in order to protect the past along with saving present/future of Egypt and the british. I found it interesting how the british and the ancient egyptian pharaohs and magicians from the past try to take back Egypt in the future which is the present time for the briish. Another part of this story that is really interesting on my take is how they use time gates to time travel from time period to time period to try and save Egypt from Egypt’s past.

A Thousand Words For Stranger

I found A Thousand Words For Stranger to be a really interesting and action/adventure filled read. In many ways I analyzed this story through the meaning of Sira's telepathic race and why she is always on the run along with being hunted down. I also observed with how her character develops that she keeps piecing together her memories and origin more and more with the help of Morgan but also the meaning behind her people. An idea I had with this novel was what if she regained her memories instantly and went back to fight against those who were hunting her by hunting them. I thought in my opinion it would be an interesting turn of events of her gathering followers to help her fight back against her hunters and maybe they would know more about her origins that they would tell her. Another thing I analyzed and observed was Sira's history along with her people's history and significant meaning to the story and to what she wants to know and discover later on down the road. What I
